Firstly look at the thread count of your linen.  The thread count is the number of fibres woven per square inch of material.  Thehigher your thread count is the better the quality your bed linen will be.  Quality percale bed linen starts at a 400 thread count.

When looking at the thread count of your bed linen, take into consideration what season you are buying for. For the cooler months you may prefer flannelette sheets or a polycotton mix.

For the warmer months use cotton or bamboo sheets that will be cooler.  This lovely quilt cover from West Elm is translated from an original painting created by one of their designers, the Organic Vine Lattice Quilt Cover is crafted from 100% organic cotton.

Wash your sheets and pillowcases weekly or fortnightly with a detergent that contains no bleaching agents or enzymes, as they could cause your bed linen to discolor. Follow the manufacturers guild lines.  I love to dry my bed linen outside on the clothes line, the sun will help to brighten your whites.
