Furniture placement in my long, narrow living room with a fireplace in one corner is driving me bonkers and I've been living with it for 19 years! Help
Hi Tina. Is it a 4x6m room? What walls are the doors on? It will depend what furniture you have but we'll try to get some furniture placement tips for you.
Hi Kylie, The room is 4 x 7.5 with our hallway running through the middle of it as the room continues onto the dining area and kitchen. There are 2 doorways and a staircase on the wall opposite to where we currently have our 3 seater and armchair. We also have a 2 seater along the shorter wall. there is an entertainment unit made up of 3 separate pieces; 2 mini cabinets 80 cm wide each and a central cabinet with 6 raws and 2 shelves; 1.5m wide. I know that we have way too much furniture in here and that is part of our problem. I have sketched a rough drawing of the dimensions and current furniture placement but not sure where to post it. Thanks so much for your interest and help, Tina. PS love, love, love the look you have created in your home.
G’day Kylie, we are about to paint out 1923 home Dulux Natural White with no trims. We’ll need blinds also & even though I’d like to go all out with red & white or yellow & white striped blinds, I can see cleaning & fading problems with them so think I will have to stick to the black & white. Do you have any suggestions for a lovely coloured door & tread colours (on acreage so they get dirty) Stairs that are too dark get very hot. The tread colours are actually what I can’t seem to work out. Our home is on stumps with steel beams under one section so wondering on their colour also. Trying not to use too many colours. Thank you for your lovely photos & news letters, Margaret
Hi Margaret. I think you’ve emailed me about this before. If dirt is your main concern, I would go with a dark taupe colour. Try Resene Double Bison (p24) or Arrowtown (p39) These colours are in the Resene Whites & Neutrals fan deck. Resene paints are located in Greenslopes, Brisbane. If you go in there, the staff are really helpful and will find the right colour for you. With the stumps, I would choose a colour that blends in with the surrounding area so the stumps become ‘invisible’ and are not a feature that you notice. Cheers Kylie
