I love cushions, I really do, but sometimes they just get in the way. Does that happen to you? Do you have a love/hate relationship with cushions?
You may have seen on instagram that we bought a new sofa for the living room. It’s a modular sectional with a chaise on one end and it’s huge compared to the little Ektorp sofa we had before.
Here’s a photo I posted on instagram when the sofa was delivered. It’s the Clara modular slipcover lounge from Alfresco Emporium. It’s big. It’s 300cm wide and the chaise is 220cm long. It comes with 12 cushions to use for back support. You would think 12 cushions would be more than enough, but no I needed more.
I love the linen, but it just needed some colour and pattern. Cushions are a great way to add colour and pattern to a room.
I decided to use one of my favourite pattern combinations with cushions:
- a plain (find similar at Hamptons Home)
- a geometric, in this case a stripe (find similar at Villa Deluxe Boutique)
- and a free flowing pattern, in this case a floral (find similar at Villa Deluxe Boutique)
The cushions all work together as they have a combination of strong blue tones and linen or hessian accents.
I’ve also added a blue throw to the bottom of the chaise lounge so there is some blue colour there too. It was a recent purchase – Monash throw in Denim from Pillow Talk
I think it definitely makes the sofa to add the decorative cushions, but this short video shows what happens when you have too many cushions and why I have a love hate relationship with cushions sometimes. Can you relate to this?
