Looking for some quick and easy DIY Decorating projects that you can tackle over the long weekend?  Here are a few simple projects that you can try.  They won’t take long, so you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the weekend.

DIY Nautical Rope Vase

These nautical rope vases were made by Bayside Bride for a nautical wedding, but we think they’d look great in any beachy coastal decor.  All you need is an old can, some rope and a hot glue gun.

DIY paint stick lampshade

This lampshade uses paint stirring sticks which are glued onto a basic lampshade frame.  You could also use pieces of thin timber or wooden twigs for a more natural look.  Detailed instructions can be found at Country Living.

Sharpie typography on glass frames

Emmy Star Brown is a talented artist who makes artwork using Sharpie pens and recycled glass frames.  To make your own version of this style of artwork, print out your chosen typography and place it behind the glass.  Use a Sharpie pen to trace your design onto the glass.  Use old glass frames (remove the back) or old window panes to create your artwork.

painted wooden utensils

Turn plain cheap timber utensils into chic kitchen accessories by following the instructions at The Gilded Pear.

trimmed towels

Lastly, if you don’t mind using a sewing machine, why not give some plain towels or sheets a designer feel by adding some trim.  You will find detailed instructions on Homelife.  I added some pretty Specklefarm ribbon to my daughters flat sheet and pillowcase.  To stop the trim puckering as you sew, use fusible hemming tape to hold the trim in place before sewing.

Please let us know if you try one of these projects.  We love seeing what you do.
