We moved into our house 5 years ago.  I have been posting photos of my house on instagram and Facebook that whole time.  I hope my photos help you to decorate your homes or inspire you with ideas.

The great thing about social media is that you can have conversations and interact with each other.  It’s not a one way conversation.  I chat online with many people.  I do get asked a lot of questions about my home, like what colour is it painted?  It’s Dulux Natural White.  Here are the top answers to those questions.

On my deck, the most common questions I get asked are where are my chairs and rug from.  My white cane chairs were a vintage eBay find.  I love to buy second hand and antique furniture.  They are usually well made (with no MDF and staples) and they have great character.  I had the seat cushions made by an upholsterer in Sunbrella outdoor fabric.

The rug was from Wayfair which is now Temple & Webster.  It’s an outdoor rug made from recycled plastic.  I prefer polypropylene outdoor rugs, but this one sits flat and is easy to hose down.  It’s also reversible if I feel like a change.

Whenever I post a photo of my kitchen, someone usually asks where my double tier fruit bowl is from.  I bought it years ago from a homewares shop in Fortitude Valley and it has long gone.

Having 2 tiers is more practical as you can separate the fruit, and it holds more that a single bowl.  I haven’t seen anything the same, but I do like this 2 tier wire fruit basket from Amara.

The main comment I get about my ensuite is the large antique mirror hanging above the bath.  I was lucky that it came with the house when we bought it.  I believe it was from the Paddington Antiques Centre in Brisbane.  The mirror is a real statement piece in the room, and again adds vintage charm and character.

The Magnolia Wreath.  I bought this from Lincraft years ago when they has a large store at Carindale Shopping Centre and had a really good homewares section.  It’s one of my favourite pieces.  It’s getting a little tired looking on some of the flower petals, so I’d love to replace it someday but I haven’t found one as pretty as this.

Whenever I post a photo of my sofa, I’m always asked where did I get the cushions?  There’s something classically appealing about pairing a stripe and a floral cushion together.  I bought these 2 cushions from my friend Vonelle when she had Villa Deluxe Boutique about 3 years ago.  They are made from Waverly fabric, so the stripe and floral have the same colour palette which makes them work so well together.

One of my favourite cushion combinations is a floral + stripe + plain.  So I went looking for a plain navy cushion to match.  You would think that would be easy but it wasn’t.  I found a navy cushion with natural jute edge from Hamptons Home.  The navy is a little lighter than I’d like and it’s polyester so it doesn’t feel as nice as the linen blend ones, but it works.

When it comes to my studio office, I often get asked where the chairs are from.  They are Delta chairs from Freedom Furniture, but they have been discontinued.  This is why you have to buy things when you see them!!  I recently wrote a blog post on Pretty Home Office Chairs.

They are the most common questions I get asked about my house.  I think that’s one of the most valuable things about social media.  That you can ask questions and talk to each other.  You can’t do that when you read a magazine.  If you have any other questions, please let me know.  I’m happy to answer them.
