You are going to love this blue and white dining room. It’s fresh, inviting and family friendly. The home, a 1937 Queenslander in Brisbane’s south, belongs to Joydee who lives here with her husband and their two young sons.
Joydee has created a stylish room and her love for blue and white is clearly visible, from the blue and white trellis wallpaper that sets the tone of the room, to her collection of blue and white china displayed on a tray so it can be easily moved when the family sits down to eat.
The black console stretches the length of the window and houses two large blue and white china drum stools on the bottom and a collection of family photos and more blue and white china on top.
Not one for matching sets of furniture, Joydee purchased all the furniture items separately and put them together herself. I love the way she has combined timber chairs with black metal cross backs, with two black bentwood chairs at the ends of the table and the black console table.
Originally Joydee had the caviar print stretched on canvas. Feeling it needed to stand out from the wall more, she chose to have it framed in a shadow box made of blonde timber which works perfectly with the timber table and chairs.
The original Art Deco doors through to the kitchen have been hinged so they swing open both ways which is perfect for young children.
Joydee was kind enough to share some of her sources with us. The feature wallpaper is designed by Anna Spiro for Porter’s Paints, called Rosey Posey Trellis in Ginger Jar Blue, the Caviar canvas print was from a sale on Temple & Webster, the quatrefoil hanging mirror is from Bed Bath n’ Table, and the black console was a recent purchase from Rococo Design.
Just through the door to the lounge room, Joydee has set up a vintage bar cart which she found on eBay. Simply swap the books and magazines for glassware and drinks and you have the perfect entertaining setup.
Thank you so much to Joydee for sharing her beautiful blue and white dining room with us. I think you’ll agree she has a great eye for styling and design.
