It’s time for another room tour and this one’s a beauty – a classic white kitchen with a stunning dining nook built in the corner. The home belongs to Nicole who lives here with her husband and two teenage girls. Nicole designed the whole house from scratch and then had it built by Casey Jackson. They have lived in the house for nearly a year now, and just love the way the house looks and feels.
The kitchen area is the central hub of the home and with 11 foot ceilings the kitchen makes a sweeping statement. Nicole found a number of kitchen images that had built in dining banquettes on Houzz and saved them to show her builder exactly what she wanted to create. She chose simple white two-pak cupboards, with a cream Essa stone benchtop on the island bench and a light grey on the back bench. The chrome pull handles are from Paddington Hardware. The trellis tiles used for the splash back are from Beaumont Tiles. At one end of the kitchen is a small walk-in butler’s pantry, and at the other end is the beautiful dining nook.
The dining nook features built-in bench seating with custom upholstered cushions, and a lovely timber dining table from Far Pavilions. Whilst the family uses the main dining area for dinner, the dining nook is used for all other meals including breakfast and afternoon tea when the girls get home from school. When extra seating is needed, Nicole uses the Vast Interiors upholstered linen chairs from the main dining table. The scatter cushions are from The Beach Furniture.
Another feature of the kitchen/dining area is the little study nook Nicole created at the butler’s pantry end of the kitchen. Nicole says she loves the convenience of having her computer in the kitchen so she can easily order her groceries online. The study nook also houses her cookbooks, bills and school notices. It’s a practical addition to the kitchen.
Thank you to Nicole and her family for sharing your beautiful home with us. This was the first room tour where we worked with a professional photographer and stylist, Tanika Blair Design. It was such a fun day seeing a true professional at work.
