Do you remember making Pom Poms with a circle made from cardboard, I do.  Only now you can buy a Pom Pom maker to help you.  There were a few to choose from but I chose the set with three different sizes from Spotlight.  Wool comes in a beautiful range of colours to make your Pom Poms and I have added my Pom Poms to a couple of throw rugs I bought at Adairs.  See our step-by-step instructions below to get started.

How to make pom poms

1.Start with a Pom Pom maker from Spotlight | 2. Thread wool into your Pom Pom maker | 3.Wrapping your wool around the arch| 4. Keep wrapping the wool evenly around working your way from one side to the other, till the arch in the middle is gone. | 5. Cut the thread on the left in picture 4, this will give you wool to tie in the middle once you have cut your Pom Pom.  Insert your scissors up the middle of your Pom Pom maker and cut the wool all the way to the end and then tie with the wool piece that you cut in pic 5.  | 6. To make an attractive and full Pom Pom I have made two Pom Poms to tie together and become one.|7. Shake out your Pom Pom and give a light and even trim | 8. These are quick and easy to make with the Pom Pom maker. Have Fun.

You can vary the wool thickness to get a different look for your Pom Pom.  I have used 8ply wool for the pink Pom Poms and 12 ply for the beige coloured Pom Poms.

This was a lot of fun, and very easy to make.  Now that you have made your Pom Poms, add them to a throw rug or cushion in your home.
