Come take a look inside this fresh blue and white nautical style living room.
This home in Brisbane’s south belongs to Michele, her husband and 5 year old son. They built their home about 2 years ago, and have slowly created a beautiful relaxed family friendly home.
In one corner of the room Michele has taken a simple white shelf from Super Amart and styled it beautifully with books, blue and white china and decor objects. You can see she has used the books and a topper styling secret.
The navy sofa with white piping really anchors the room. Navy blue is such a practical colour with kids. The sofa was from Oz Design furniture but has sadly been discontinued.
A simple rattan chest serves as the coffee table. Michele has created a tray of decorative objects that can easily be whisked away when her son wants to play with his toys.
Michele says she used instagram for inspiration when decorating and styling her home.
I’d just get on instagram to see what other people had done and get ideas.
The inclusion of indoor plants really lifts the room. Michelle says she’s no green thumb but does have some success with lillies. The bamboo in the corner near the anchor is actually artificial, but placed inside a beautiful blue and white ceramic pot you’d never know it was from IKEA.
Michelle has been kind enough to share some of her sources with us – the rattan chairs were from Vast Interiors | the navy, white and grey stripe cushions were from Cabin & Co | the rope anchor on the wall was from Freedom furniture | the blue and white stripe rug was a bargain buy from Target, find similar at Zanui
Thank you to Michele for sharing her living room with us. You can see more of Michele’s home on instagram @michele_judd
